Archos 40 Titanium: Android 4.2 Beginners For Little Money

The 4-incher Archos 40 Titanium has a basic equipment on board and 4.2 with dual SIM and virtually pure Android waiting jelly bean. The whole thing is there for just €110.

The trend last no longer hold made ever larger models from entry-level phones, if one thinks for example of the 6-incher Mobistel Cynus T7.

The French manufacturer ARCHOS now brings a new range of smartphones on the market, which are all to newcomers, but use several sizes, so there is that 53 Titanium with 5.3 inches diagonal, that 50 titanium 5, 45 Titanium with 4.5 and that ARCHOS 40 titanium with 4.0 inch screen size.

Small storage

The latter is a welcome change in the face of the flood of giant smart phones again. The 4 “-TFT-display dissolves with 800 x 480 pixels and achieved a pixel density of 233 ppi.” The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor of type MediaTek MT6572, supported by a 512 MB small memory.

The internal memory is 4 GB unfortunately also quite small; especially when installing several great apps this could have a negative impact. At least, there is the possibility to expand the memory via MicroSD.

8.5 mm slim

Android running in version 4.2.2, where ARCHOS deliberately sets on a “pure, unadulterated” Google OS and lays it over no own user interface. Only through a few in-house apps like the ARCHOS Media Center, it is clear that there is no nexus Smartphone.

In addition to a VGA front camera comes 5-MP-backcamera with LED Flash and auto focus used. The replaceable battery has a capacity of 1,500 mAh, what is sufficient according to the manufacturer for talk time of 12 h (2 G) or 9, 5 h (3 G). A Dual-Simslot enables the simultaneous use of two SIM cards, such as the professional and the private.

Other features of the 124 grams light and 8.5 mm of slim smartphones are GPS, HSDPA (up to 21 Mbps), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, MicroUSB and DLNA.

Predatory pricing

The ARCHOS is 40 titanium now at the low price of only €109,99 available. Although it is intended by the small internal and memory certainly not for people that complicated 3D games with their Smartphone want to gamble; However, it can provide all the important features for beginners and also provides a function, that one often misses even at high-end devices through the additional SIM card slot.

Alternatives to the ARCHOS would be the Huawei Ascend Y300 and the LG L5 II, which, however, both still with Android 4.1 run 40 titanium.
