Work in development and product management at NAVIGON in Würzburg rested professionals who enjoy good test results though, but still independently develop their devices so that as they see fit. MyRoutes detects the driving

But NAVIGON NAVIGON not if were not also target-oriented improvements include – for example the “learners” Myroutes. After the target entry that offers up to three different 7310 routes and recommends one of them. Taking into account the pilot the driving style of the driver and the time of day; the three possible routes are shown with length and duration.

In the test, the recommended route was then mostly the best. However, the time in which we could test the navigation system, was too short to fully come into play to the driver getting used to, especially in interurban routes.

After all: without the full optimization, the selected routes are also NAVIGON typically excellent. In addition the good built-in TMC function, which passes on reported traffic jams, if it makes sense.

Topographic maps and parking indicator

Also the optical guidance is still good, the outlines of the building are rather unnecessary in our opinion, but since the user can make the map view largely free, there is something for every taste. Topographic maps representing now possible is already an optical leak morsels but just for interurban routes.

The acoustic quality of the voice instructions was greatly improved compared to its predecessor 7210. They sounded at the 7210 something quiet and distorted, so they sound at the 7310 pretty loud and clearly.

NAVIGON has addressed the subject of parking. The “smart parking” function offered to specify right at the destination entry a parking space close to the target. In addition a parking symbol, appears once you get close to the target, if there are parking lots or parking garages close to the target. These are provided except with opening hours with prices, so that you can turn over, whether it is worthwhile, perhaps risking a parking ticket.

Well-functioning voice control

And even if there is no MP3 player at NAVIGON – a Bluetooth hands-free kit is at the 7310 on board. Properly functioning voice control is also very practical. These dominated the destination input by voice, speak clearly.

This is especially a great advantage if one is already started and wants to enter the target: then the outlandishly distracting typing of the target is eliminated while driving.

On the road, the user can regulate the output of the voice prompts by saying “volume up” or “down” to a pressure on the volume icon. The option menu can also select by language and use. This goes even so far that calculate an alternative route by voice commands alone can be.

Notwithstanding the good voice control the target input at two new NAVIGON Pilotage is prima solved with letters fading out and good sized buttons. It offers all essential options including intersections up to the somewhat hidden, but possible input of target coordinates.

Minimum weaknesses

Our factory hot 7310 test device had still a nearly finished software aboard, which at swallowed a voice announcement and some time settled for some input. But did not crash.

Apart from these minor flaws, which were due to beta stage, there’s not really no longer have much to complain about. Only the display should like to slightly brighter light as already with the predecessor.

Otherwise, the serial device with a small Tempoplus and a little bug fixing should have the makings of the blockbuster, especially as there’s more the device for 50 euros with TMC-Pro.

Bottom line: The large 7310 convinced fully in beta stage – it will bring smooth seven points more than his predecessor, 7210.
