Soft Baits for Fishing

This article discusses the General information on the soft lures used for fishing for predators, whether Pike, Pike or perch but also for trout or the Chub as long as their size.

Soft lure, General

Soft lures are made in plastic material more or less flexible and resistant. The first models having seen the day were manufactured with some pork rinds tinted imitating the launching and were used for fishing for the bar. Today, we find almost that models completely made in polymers. Soft lures imitate more or less faithfully the carnivorous of our waters fish prey, some being for one strong mimicry, others to stoke curiosity or to annoy predators grace, in addition to their visual appearance, smell, vibration and even sound signals. Regarding the color, everything is possible and imaginable.

Soft baits can be mounted in different ways. The most classic is on a jig head. It can also be used on montages anti-clogging texan type, as a trailer on a jig or spinnerbait or drop shot. Your editing will be then leaded or not (weightless). The weight of the weight coupled with the density and shape of the soft lure will determine its speed of immersion as well as its propensity to stay more or less close to the bottom during the animations.

The different types of soft baits for freshwater fishing: montages, and animations.

COMMAS

Commas are certainly one of the first modern soft baits. Not really imitative, they consist of a lanky body completed by a corkscrew tail that comes alive at the back. Their ideal frame is a jig head.
Very used at the beginning of the explosion of the fishing lure, fish is there are unfortunately educated. Yet some derivative models continue to be effective. The classics are the Mister Twister ‘twists’ and the ‘Sandra’ of Delalande. Berkley today offers innovative products.

The shads

Certainly the most used range today, and for good reason it is also the most versatile because the decline. The shads are very pisciformes and they are equipped with a caudal architecture and size variable. This caudal creates strong vibration that leaves not insensitive predators. The material and shape of the shad then come give him a ‘rolling’ (undulatory swimming) and a more or less important movement of the caudal. They can be mounted in all ways.

Level animation, you can fish cast bring Classic at all depths just through the reel, linear on the bottom or vertical… you can tell these are decoys to do everything.
It is difficult to give reference models as there are good. For my part, I like much the Shad of Sawamura up One and the Keitech Easy Shinner. In small size RockVibesShad of kidneys are a disaster on the Poles.

The worms or worms

As their name implies they imitate more or less effectively earthworms. Variations depart often from the imitative to bring some keys trigger devices. The attractant is very important for these lures fish often take time to observe before you take them, probably because they do not consider the verses as highly mobile prey.
You can mount them on a jig head, but it was in Texas that they will find their effectiveness by sinning in the heart of obstacles, or editing drop shot. Comes here the technique of the wacky rig find its place and make all the difference on educated fish. Effectively choose the weight according to the fishing areas and the density of the worm.
THE reference is from Gary Yamamoto SENKO. I love also the Wave Worm for their color and their attractor, but hard to find. Kidneys offers originals and Berkley products of very good imitations of Canadian verse.

Soft jerkbaits or finess

Usually pisciformes, we can simplify their description by saying that it’s Shad without caudal. They have two main uses that are fishing vertically and fishing in Texas a short sealed. In the first case, their advantage is to create very little vibration and therefore do not scare the educated fish. In addition, their body not creating no resistance in the water, they don’t are not “washed away” by the current or derivatives and can be used with lead lower than on the Shads to same size. The second use to simulate the poissonnets moving quickly and randomly on the surface.
For vertical fishing I propose the Ripple Minnow of Berkley or even the Easy Shinner in Keitech finess.

The crayfish or “craw”:

Their name leaves no room for doubt, it is plastic crawfish imitations! Even if sometimes it begs the question to the views of some form. Playing on mimicry or vibrations caused by their claws, they are particularly effective lures, especially during the moult of these crustaceans. Usable with all mounts are the best trailers to jigs.
My favorites are the AX craw of kidneys, but Yamamoto for example also offers very good model.

The frogs-mouse

The fish are more fond than is believed of amphibians and rodents. Good imitations or decoys knowing sharpen their curiosity with very good results. For the mouse there usually are imitative hollow models. For the frogs there are those going up, no floating, enticing with their pasta slamming the surface at the back; the hollow swimming naturally or not and swimmers fish hybrids.
The frog, the results can be fantastic, and the word is weak, with their reproduction. And what a treat to see these high-powered surface attacks !
For the frogs to the hollow body, two types, two references: the famous Basirinsky and his Special swim and the Bully Wa of R2S. For those up, select those with much flexible legs.

The creatures

Not really imitative, often closer to an Alien for prey. We can still compare some large insects or crustaceans. These are especially intended for black bass fishinglures. These lures are in Texas most of time or as a trailer.

The tubes / octopus

Across the channel, the tubes are more used than with us, whether for fishing the black bass in Texas or the Golden on leaded head. Their advantage is to have a body hollow so sparse and flowing slowly.
The octopus are used mainly for fixtures lead palette or to bring the volume to the catfish fishing.
