The concept of the meaning of multiple nested into each other chassis point Spotlight HiFi fans often connect the KEF and Tannoy British tradition brands. But in fact, the French boxing forge Cabasse has cultivated the technically tricky, metrologically and sonically but extremely fascinating design in much the same way and marked.
More recently, the Gauls have introduced the third generation of their EB. The proud, 30 kilograms, wrapped in finest piano lacquer on request stand box is the most expensive of our comparison candidate pairs 3000 euros, but the value is enormous. Especially since they are installed in the box a technical sensation: a slightly modified offshoot of the innermost part of the bullet speaker la sphere, the stereoplay boxes reference since January 2007.
The 13 cm wide Zweiwegekoax (see top right) is unique in effort and style. Its almost flat outer shape avoids the usual competitors funnel and sound tours.
As the larger of the two systems takes over the reins at Atypically high 1120 Hertz of the woofers, its ring-shaped membrane made of white foam must make only marginal, barely visible displacement. As a result she can not modulate the sound of the centrally arranged tweeter. Also, the two large 17 cm woofer cone membranes are made of foam (Duocell).
The EB had the highest over all temper and was always an advantage when drums, piano and large orchestra were asked, say, when it came right to the point. Then she lay down so grand in the stuff that the smaller audio physic and partly also the Sonus Faber were sidelined.
Could fully keep with only the Nubert remained similar to approved when such escapades, swallowed but considerably more power in this discipline. What, she compensated the tester with a deeper and more accurate bass, so the Cabasse in total achieved no real advantage. Had to have especially since the Sonus Faber with their highly refined gameplay still a weighty Word.
+ Unique coax and timelessly elegant form; sounds extremely alive and physically; extremely low watt requirements
– Bass slightly inaccurate; might sound something cultivated
