Not every watch is also water resistant. And also here there are differences as regards the water resistance. In the table below, you can derive up to what water usage, your watch can be charged or used. Watches, the water resistance is usually specified in “Bar”.
All water leak information be carried out according to DIN 8310.
Tip: The water resistance of a wristwatch should be checked by a specialist every 2-3 years. In quartz clocks it is recommended when replacing. Important: The bar indication is cannot be equated with the appropriate depth of water!
3 bar match while depth of 30 meters. It’s here but only a test pressure, please note so the above table. If you are unsure don’t insert your watch in the water! You increase the lifespan and save you costly repairs.Because the waterproof is not permanent property and is influenced by external factors, this cannot be guaranteed in principle.
Special diving watches are often 20 bar water resistant, therefore the ideal watch for any water sport or (device) appear.
These standards apply to the general use of wristwatches.
Watches with an indication of the meter to the water resistance can however not immediately used at this water depth, because the details of metres to the water resistance is only a pictorial representation of the test pressure.
A watch can withstand the influence of water with the static pressure indicated on the clock (I.e. 10 BAR) and theoretical diving into water at the specified depth.
By movements in the water, such as a violent action or a slap on the water, induced dynamic pressure can exceed the specified static pressure many times and thus affect the entered water resistance.
