ZTE and Alcatel One Touch Open Fire – the first Smartphones with Firefox OS

Alcatel and ZTE (or Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment) are the first phones with Firefox US, the final name of Mozilla’s Boot2Gecko. It is a mobile operating system that works in a Web browser.

Firefox OS

2013 in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress, introduced Mozilla the first two smartphones running the new Firefox OS – ZTE and Alcatel One Touch Open Four. One Touch Four has a 1 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM, a 3.5 inch HVGA screen and a 3.2 megapixel camera, while ZTE Open has a 3.5 inch screen (480 x 320 pixels) and have a Cortex A5 processor, 256 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Specifications are not impressive, but it is quite obvious that these phones will not cost much and that they are directed against a large group of people who are not in possession of a smartphone yet. Mozilla also announced that soon came Huawei and LG devices.
